WoW Patch 9.2: Steve Danuser tries to reassure Sylvanas fans

WoW's storyline has been causing headaches for many players for some time now, especially fans of Sylvanas Windrunner. The Banshee Queen has gone from being the leader of the Forsaken to public enemy number 1 complete with raid boss fight in the Sanctum of Domination. In WoW Patch 9.2, however, a kind of redemption storyline awaits them

, as a published cutscene shows how the Ranger General, who has been "asleep" for years, and the Banshee Queen collide in Sylvanas. This merging of the good version with the evil one worries many fans of the sinister and cunning Banshee Queen. In a Q&A with Dexerto, Narrative Lead Steve Danuser commented on these concerns. Ranger generals do not wipe out the banshee queen

So we should get to see a lot more of the storyline of the Shattered Legacy sequence in the End of Eternity update. The Sylvanas story arc will then get a resolution that has been worked towards for a long time, Danuser says.

"Sylvanas is obviously the key to the events that led us to the Shadowlands.... and now that the two parts of her soul are back together, it doesn't mean that one of them is gone. The Banshee Queen isn't gone, the Ranger General hasn't taken over; it's about those two parts having to find a way forward and becoming one entity and one soul, not this broken thing,"

he continues.

"But it's not an easy road," Danuser adds, "and whether it can do that and what form that takes, you'll see as you play through the content. We're very excited to see how this story culminates. It will take place in a chapter of the Pact campaign that we didn't release on the test realm for a reason: because we wanted to hold back that final piece of the story for players to discover as they play through the content."

To reassure fans of the "old" Sylvanas, Danuser also emphasizes that her beloved character traits remain: "If you pay attention to the subtle things as you play through the quest line, or see what Sylvanas says and does, you'll find that she still has a sharp mind and a certain bite.

Patch 9.2 will be released on February 23, 2022, at which time we'll all be able to see for ourselves whether the rest of the Sylvanas storyline is as satisfying as Danuser described.
